Fandom: What's going on!?

A superstar  experimenting with his talent... Two legends of the film industry sharing screen space for the very first time... An action hero plays a villain in a blockbuster franchise... OR A sacred war between good and evil... An adolescent struggling with his parent's pregnancy... A blind man witnessing a murder... What would you want to watch/be a part of/remember? Of course, the latter part sounds more interesting, but if in any case, you prefer the former, let me tell you 'YOU ARE TRAPPED!"; trapped in a maw of 'misunderstood worship'. Let me explain! We, the Indian audiences, have loved our stars as Raj, Shensha, Bhuvan, Gabbar, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, Chandni, Mr. India, Umrao Jaan, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan etc. In other words, we were mesmerized by the characters journey and how beautifully or courageously they overcame their fears. Ohk! Sanju is not a terrorist but he is a master filmmaker. After contemplating for a very long time between whether to write on Sanju or just let people see it and make their own opinions about the film, I couldn't resist but to write about the most awaited movie of Bollywood of 2018 #SANJU; and its place in Indian Cinema. Just the way Awards have lost their lustre in these years; from giving awards to legends like Late Kishor Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, R.D. Burman etc., now we see awards given to Roadies cum Actors and legacy actors. It's sad to see Bollywood lose the same lustre and rust in the name of Biopics like Sanju. Sanju alone is a great film, great screenplay, great storytelling, the Midas touch of Raj Kumar Hirani (RKH) itself but somewhere the movie utterly fails.... .the purpose! Biopic culture of this industry is facing the same fate as 'Acche din'; over promised and under delivered. Have you seen 'Rin' and 'Surf Excel' Ads?

This line from the film pretty much sums up the premise of this Friday release 'Thackeray', the movie that celebrates Shiv Sena Leader, Bala Saheb Thackeray's life and work. As a film student, I want to review the movie from its making point of view majorly and will just try to talk on the politics as many events happened or shown in the film are plainly shown from a one-point perspective and are a bit skewed as far as storytelling in films is concerned. Before I start telling what’s good and what’s great in the movie here are a few spoilers. Ohk, I am kidding, the article contains discussions on some scenes and moments in the film so please proceed with caution as there will be a lot of spoilers ahead...
