Why India can never have a real superhero?

Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Superman, Batman, Bhavesh Joshi, The Punisher, Cable, Joker...wait what?! Bhavesh Joshi!

That's what happens when we hear an Indian superhero name, in other words, Aapna sa lagta hai!
and 'Apna' is for granted. Right? No offense JIO.

But that's what we all love about Vikramaditya Motwani and Phantom Production, they break stereotypes, hence, crusade the changing era of cinema. Be it Trapped, Queen or Udta Punjab all fictional stories but just one step away from reality. A man trapped in a high rise apartment in the middle of a city, an innocent girl plans her own honeymoon to discover she's not alone in the world, an area so corrupt due to its unstable socio-political arrangments that the youth is drowned in drugs; such beautiful concepts that they look believable, rather achievable, to the Indian society.

Same is the case with Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, it's fictional, an idea of having a superhero in Mumbai or India; the first thing people are going to react is "zyada udega to kisi pole se takkra jayega!", but that's the beauty of cinema and Phantom, it's believable, our hero is fighting the system as a masked vigilante (no, not Desi Batman) INSAAF! solving issues like BMC water supply issues, fighting corruption etc.
That's not the first time a movie is made on a common man fighting the system, its just an upgraded version of the films made in 70's and 80's, pre-liberal era of the Indian society.
Today the content is same, our hero again is fighting the system against some goons but has a young tune to it, in short, it's more modern!

The second reason for the topic is, India is a land of Gods and Goddesses, having powers just as the Avengers or any other superhero.
Hanuman, Jatayu, Bheem, Arjun our mythological stories are full of such characters, and no doubt the narratives are so interesting that we are automatically intrigued. The difference in our mythological characters and the superheroes is just that the mytho-characters are seeking wisdom and not some colorful gems called Infinity Stones!

And that's deep, it is relatable, its something we all can achieve (hardly we get it) but its achievable.

Making one superhero stand out of this clutter is a real task, what should/shouldn't go in the script so as to make him/her look real, look believable and look TRUE.
I think they have played really clever with the name 'Bhavesh Joshi', 'Joshi' a surname (not even a name) that make us believe all the more in his mortality, but he is a superhero, this irony in itself is amazing, nicely played Mr. Motwane.

Moving on!

There have been many attempts to make Indian audiences believe that there can be beings more advanced, beings that can survive all the hassles a common man has.
Flying Jhatt, Krrish, Ra.One, G.One, Robot and some more, but we all know what the problem is, they are not superheroes to us, they are Tiger Shroff, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Mr. Rajnikant, what I am trying to say is, they are already so suppressed under their names (brands) that they can not break that image. It might bring effects on their own stardom; and boy!
Who risks that!?

Its quite evident that India a land of mythological legends will never believe on superheroes for a long time. We will see them, get awestruck by them but will always tell bedtime stories of Bheem, Arjun, Shiva, Noah or Ram.

As far as I am concerned, I will definitely watch 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero', it stays in reality, talks about reality and fights a system and not inner conflicts or nirvana itself.
But yes, I will forget it as a Bollywood movie, letting it fade away in my mind, reason being, we all know where we live; and here we have 'RULES' to follow! *wink*

Until next time.
